Yesterday, January 5th saw the publication of the results of the 2022 FIAP World Cup for Clubs and Catchlight CC were placed in the top 5 of 224 clubs from across the world.
As previous winners in 2017 and having placed highly in others years, it was good to return to a high ranking following a disappointing result in 2021.
As has been the case to date, our President and Founder, Ross McKelvey overseen the clubs entry and image selection. Going into the competition we all believed we had a strong entry and that was borne out with our 4th place finish, only 3 points behind the winners, Rolls Royce (Derby) Photographic Society. Our position being rewarded with a Bronze Medal.
Our entry was a diverse sets of images from 13 different photographers from the club and our overall score of 219 points was a reflection of the quality of submission - congratulations to all of the photographers from Catchlight CC and in particular those who had images selected to represent the club.
In what was a particularly outstanding result for UK and Ireland camera clubs, there were 6 of the Top 10 clubs from the UK, and 26 from the UK & Ireland in the Top 50 - a true testament to the quality of work being produced on our small islands.
Congratulations to Rolls Royce (Derby) on their win and to the other UK clubs who also medalled in the Top 10.
